We will Forever Remember !!!

Ten years ago today, 7:45 am local time (8:45 am - et), my Delta flight took off from Birmingham, AL, headed (direct) for Louisville, KY. For 2 ½ hours we did not see a flight attendant, received no explanation from the pilot about why we were long overdue to land. I, along with most of the passengers around me, spent the majority of the flight complaining about not being offered drinks / snacks. When we did finally hear from the pilot, it was to inform us that we had arrived in Cincinnati, Ohio. He offered no details. He only said, “due to a series of tragedies, the FAA has grounded all flights nationally”. As we departed the plane the flight crew thanked us for flying Delta, but all looked scared. It was only after gathering around TV sets (with various news feeds) in the Cincinnati terminal, that the realization of what this day would always mean to my country occur.

During the 2 ½ hours that I, at the time, described as “miserable” because I was “dying for a Coke”, thirty three passengers and seven crew members gave the ultimate sacrifice while fighting four terrorists in the Pennsylvania skies to protect us; thousands more had already perished in New York and Washington.

I haven’t flown since then, no reason other than the necessity simply hasn’t occurred in ten years. I still crave my morning Coke. I still, though not as frequently, complain about the lack of customer service for my spent dollars. I still love my country...

My prayer today, as always, God please continue to bless America...
