I received a phone call from someone in the City who couldn't believe that this Mayor had "Given" the City of Ider a Bucket Truck...
Harris talked about the donation of the city’s old bucket truck to the City of Ider. Harris said that the city of Trenton had received a letter of gratitude from Ider who had previously been hanging Christmas lights and doing other things using a ladder.
Let me tell you about the "Bucket Truck". The City used to get the Christmas Lights from the Chamber and hang them when they were asked by someone from someone in the Chamber to hang them. One year they wasn't even asked and no lights were put up. I spoke to the City officials about the matter (I had a retail business there at the time and Christmas is pretty important to retail sales) and they said they didn't have a bucket truck and had to borrow one from the Phone Company a truck to do it when they could. The Mayor then wanted to buy new lights and then Streets Commissioner (Now Mayor) asked to use City Funds to Buy a truck from the Phone Company. This was only after the new Christmas lights were bought so that was only about three or four years ago. Now they have bought "Another Truck" to hang Banners and lChristmas Lights and GAVE the other truck away!
Folks you can't just give a truck away without a vote to not anyone not anytime not anywhere...
So again, I will ask... Without a Vote.... What was this Mayor thinking?????????????

Geez, kind of like the 'old school bus' -- what in the world. I truly believe in charity but governments are not charitable organizations they must be self sustaining as much as possible, as they are on the citizens payroll.

I have to admit that the Sentinel done a GREAT JOB by asking Doug of the water Company about the Fireplugs not working. As I set there and read his answer to the questions that we asked, I wondered how many people read it the same way I did. It was the Fire Cheif's word against Doug's word of not knowing of the problem but later said that he was aware of it and was working on it. He just wished that they had come to him before going to the Commission and asking for WHAT????????????? ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that I have spoken to others about the "Bucket Truck" that is an issue that should be addressed and "ACCOUNTABILITY" needs to be held there also...

After hearing the news out of Ider this morning I had to laugh. With all the troubles they are having up there at least they have a "Bucket Truck" given to them by the Trenton City taxpayers...

Seen the new bucket truck today at work. We laughed as we drove by wondering if they had given Ider their one free lesson on how to operate their Free Bucket truck!

So, they gave away equipment paid for by taxpayer funds without even a vote? Did they first declare it surplus? Not sure about the city but the county has rules, written by yours truly, that requires something to be declared surplus before it can be disposed of.

As far as I know that is what happened. When the City had a "Real Mayor" I used to attend the meeting to see for myself what was going on. When he dropped out to run for Chairman, I attended a few more meeting and only found myself either laughing or down right mad. Money started flying out of that Building like it was on fire and since I'm not really a resident of Trenton, I didn't feel the need to fight. It really don't do any good anyway. As far as the media or anyone attending the meeting, that was the first thing anyone heard of "Giving away" the bucket truck. It was a warm fuzzy news story without any questions asked. I'm sure with the track record that this Mayor has, it was very much legal...lol...lol... Kinda like trading a city vehicle in on another one or "BID RIGGING" that has went on with the Civic Center. The City attorney will say that it could be done when in fact if it was chanllanged it wouldn't. But then again everone should know that not much gets Challenged here in Dade County.
