The above is a question from Doug Grammer on Peach Pundit blog in Atlanta. It is a response to racinwithrex who was trying to point out some of Maglev's foibles and how he has not exactly operated in the interests of his constituents. The funniest thing is that he thought that Rex was me. Below is the exchange. Hope you enjoy it.

Also, if I've left anything out on the list of Maglev's accomplishments let me know. I have another column coming up. :)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Doug Grammer: Are you saying you are not Ben Brandon, Chairman of the Dade County Tea party, GOP state committee member, and former Dade County Commission Chairman? I don’t take that as just a citizen of Dade County.

As I said before, Sen. Mullis has raised 14K within his district, one of his opponents has raised ZERO inside or outside of the District and we can’t tell what the other has raised because he hasn’t filed yet. I’m not looking at how much he has raised just in Dade county because he represents more than just Dade.

Other than the hospital bed tax, what votes do you think he has taken that has hurt people? What exactly did you want him to do that he hasn’t done? Bring home some pork to Dade County?

Ben, why didn’t you run?

ME: Hey Doug, I’m right here. I’m not hiding anywhere as you can tell by the articles I’m writing in the papers in Jeff’s district. Believe it or not there is more than one person in the 53rd who thinks Maglev shouldn’t be reelected.

I’m not racinwithrex. I’ll take that apology now please.

ME again: “Other than the hospital bed tax, what votes do you think he has taken that has hurt people?”

What has he done to hurt people? You must not have been reading my column in the paper.

He voted for SB31 that raised electric rates years in advance of the power plants being built. Georgia Power’s own comptroller admits most of the money will go to shareholders. Funny though, in Jeff’s district I think Dade is the only county served by Georgia Power. Who delivers your electricity in Walker?

He has voted for every expansion of the nanny state where he’s had an opportunity. He voted to ban video poker. He’s not against gambling or he’d propose repealing the lottery so he must just not like it when people gamble and the state doesn’t get its cut.

He voted to deny private property rights by voting for a smoking ban in privately owned restaurants. When I challenged him on this his comment was that it was going to pass anyway and he needed Senator Thomas to help him on some of his votes so he voted AYE even though he didn’t think it was a good idea. So much for taking a stand on principle.

He voted to have the state tell me I’m not smart enough to know that I should wear a seatbelt.

Although his big claim is that he’s never voted for a tax increase he voted to “update” all the fees and permits for Georgia and copies of transcripts, for example, went from $1.50 a page to $10 a page.

Now he’s saying he’ll sponsor a bill like Arizona’s on immigration to crack down on illegal immigration in Georgia. Problem is that on March 9th he voted DO PASS in committee for Senator Orock’s bill that would essentially provide “comprehensive immigration reform”, amnesty, in Georgia. What a hypocrite!

And here in the county he has involved himself almost every Republican primary we’ve had since he took office and endorsed one candidate which the rest of us in leadership can’t do. The last TWO elections he has endorsed a candidate who until just before qualifying had been a Democrat instead of endorsing a lifelong Republican.

What has he done? This is good for a start. Let me know if you need more.

How funny was that? That's the Chairman of the District. He is just another "cheerleader" for Mullis.

Another Blog between Doug, David, and Myself (racinwithrex) and Not Ramblinwreck...

. Doug Grammer July 20, 2010 at 11:39 am
Who did I vote for? Or did you mean other members of my family? I am assuming you mean Sen. Mullis and not Sen. Isakson? Just becuase I predict he will win without a run off doesn’t mean he got my vote. He may have. To any event, I am still convinced both of those men will win without a run off.

You might be right there Doug about No Run-off but I still say that when you only have 20% to vote that in itself sends a message that you and the Political Circle don’t understand. Myself, I’m voting FOR two people today and NOT Voting for one position because neither of the two are the better, the rest I’m getting a PIG in a POKE but for one VOTE that is AGAINST the Senator who has VOTED WRONG on many issues this past year… NUFF SAID!

Oh and by the way there chefdavid, we are all a little miffed at the “HIRING” of a Former School Board Member….lol..lo… But such a potty mouth, we don’t even want to ask about LBTD here in Dade and you use that KIND of language… Just goes to show that “you ain’t from around here”….lol…lol…lol..

I have no idea what former school board member you are referring too. I still don’t know for a fact you mean Sen. Mullis over Sen. Isakson. Let’s let the votes get counted before we decide on a 20% turn out. We can also leave off what I do and don’t understand. I don’t think you understand is it’s not what I think , but who get’s the most votes in the primary. The general will be important later.

The comment about the Board Member is a “LOCAL” one to David… As far as NOT knowing which Senator I mean shows you don’t pay that much atttention to details such as a VOTING RECORD! As far as the % of votes cast, I find it funny that you can comment on what you think about a Run-off before the election is held by my opinion is premature? HHHMMM and you are the Chairman of the District? Just another case of why THE LOCAL PARTY struggles to get people to show up at events…..

. racinwithrex July 20, 2010 at 1:15 pm
Also because your seem to struggle with trying to figure out Which Senator, let me spell it out… M-U-L-L-I-S!

. chefdavid July 20, 2010 at 1:36 pm
I was joking about Senator of the 53. The board member who resigned was that was hired was David Swader http://www.discoverdade.com/frontpage.htm

. racinwithrex July 20, 2010 at 1:52 pm
And I did BASE my figure off the number of “Early Voters” and Noon numbers for the LOCAL District with the ONLY contested race. It will take a HUGE Evening turnout to make that number soar. But after all you can go ahead and say what most feel anyway… It don’t matter about DADE because they can’t carry ANY ELECTION even in their District…

Just in case you don’t realize, the Ninth covers 15 counties and I don’t keep up with what each school board does. The way you wrote your first post, I wasn’t sure who you were calling names. It could have been a Senator or a School Board Member. I thought you were saying a Senator hired a School Board Member. That’s why I had no clue what you meant.

I based my prediction of no run off based upon the amount of money raised. I did that about a week ago, but I guess your memory is slipping or you are trying spin. Either way, I’ll remind you my prediction was based off of real numbers.

BTW, my job is not to be a nanny and look at every county commissioner, school board member, State Rep., State Senator, or statewide officer and tell them what to do. My job is to help get them get elected once they have the nomination. Your job as voters is to help pick the best person for the job.

One campaign tip: don’t wait until 3 PM on the day of voting to direct voters to try to sway their vote.

I think the votes in Dade County matter very much, but that’s my opinion. You are entitled to yours.

If you could be clearer with what you are trying to say, I (we) could understand you better.

. racinwithrex July 20, 2010 at 8:20 pm
Hey Doug, let me suggest that you might need a little help in your Campaign Advice because I am NOT trying today to sway anyone. I let the folks that will look at the record make that decision but the bright lites that impress you don’t do much for me. Mullis doesn’t have to be my BUDDY, he just needs to do HIS JOB! For the record there, it was David who brought up the School Board member and it never had anything to do with you, but as usual you want to THINK you know more than you actually do. That’s why I (we) get such a KICK out of you over here in Dade County. Is that CLEAR ENOUGH for YOU?

Please take the time to re-read this comment left by Doug and Please try to help me figure of what he's saying or not saying. I think he's trying to tell me what he don't understand is what I understand or something like that...lol... Please keep in mind that he is District Chairman of the Republician Party...

We can also leave off what I do and don’t understand. I don’t think you understand is it’s not what I think..... HHHUUUUHHHH?

Now that the election is over and Mullis is again going to Atlanta to represent us here in Dade County, I just wonder how he will do that? I have asked many times what he has done for Dade in the past and yet no answer.

I myself, looked at this past year and have always thought that Mr. Mullis has a conflict of interest with Double Dipping the taxpayer and told then Board Member Peter Cervelli back when he voted to hire Mullis. That has been at least over 2 years and maybe even three now, and yet nothing has been "brought" to this County.

I simply have a problem with someone getting paid and NOT doing their Job. Hence the long days of sitting trying to get folks to sign a recall. While some have a problem letting the past go (aka Ben Brandon) I have moved on to such things as the Sheriff (who I used to support) and Mullis and even our current County Ex. I always say that it's nothing personal although I have a few personal issues with those who claim to support these elected officials. It's like a friend who's about to jump from a bridge.. It would be wrong for them to do so, and I have to say something. But the personal issue is those folks who think it's fine for them to Jump because they support everthing they do, even when it's wrong...

These folks, have a personal adgenda that only if they Buddy up to the elected official do they think they will succeed. I don't need any elected official to be my buddy, but to do their job.

You can give all the interviews and press releases you want, but when folks around here take the time to look at it for themselves instead of listening to the same ole speech, then maybe we can all get-along. Now while no one is perfect, I feel such things as not answering a call or call back is a simple fix. Getting out and listening to other folks besides those who are always in your face with something would also help the community. Listening to people who are a little more qualified in such issues that affect this county and just being able to put aside pride we would be able to work together. Last but not least is the Pride you should take in being elected to represent the folks who voted you into office. You should be able to show more than just coming over here to Dade and being buddies with certain folks who you think represent Dade County when in fact they are not the majority. Another words educate yourself who has the best interest in Dade County as a whole and try to work for those folks and quit your little "play dates" and get the JOB DONE!
