Introduce yourself here. If you wish to stay anonymous, then just say "hi" and let everyone know you're here. We're glad you could join us!

As my user ID pretty much says, I'm Jason Hurst. Unrepentant capitalist and conservative.

It's late and I'm going to bed. Cya on the flip side.

My name is Stephani, most of those from the Discover Dade board know me as sbcorgi. I live on 7 acres on Lookout, with my 8 children, dairy goats, chickens, cats, dogs, Oh, yeah I almost forgot: my husband Richard. I am a graphic artist/desktop publisher by trade -- but most of my time goes to homeschooling my children! I am very conservative and believe that troubles we have today started with Lincoln and his Federalism, booned by FDR and his 'entitlement' programs and now we are on the verge of become a Socialist Republic!

Now don't let the local rescue know you are milking anything! They might come take them away. Maybe even Richard.

I hope by now most of you know me. I am David Young former commissioner from the South end of Dade County. I started this forum so folks would has a place to discuss topics unbiased by the media or other influences. I encourage open discussion on issues. I look at this forum as no different than people down at the hardware store or brock's talking about stuff. The only thing I ask is don't slander anyone. Keep it so third graders can read it. And if you report something have the proof ready and be willing to post if asked. If you do ask questions hopefully they will be answered either by regular members or locally through press releases, news stories, or an occasional comment from those in power. Let's keep this forum for the people by the people.
David

I grew up, work and live in Dade County. I have four children -a boy who is 12, a girl who is 9, a boy who is 7 and a girl who is 5- and they all attend public school. The majority of my family is from Dade County and continues to live in the Dade County area. I was away from Dade County for several years, but have been very happy to be back and to have spent the last few years here. I don't plan on leaving and I have known school systems way worse than Dade's, but still believe Dade's can be much better. I have to agree with one local newsperson who told me he is never offended when people refer to Dade County as Mayberry. There is definitely a downside to living in a small town, but when it comes down to it...I would rather raise my kids here than anywhere else. I joined this forum because I enjoy knowing how others feel about things that affect Dade County and sometimes I feel the need to voice my thoughts...even if none of you want to hear them! It is never my intention to offend anyone, just to speak my mind. Criticism, in general, does not bother me and I feel everyone is entitled to their own views. Besides, seeing things from another point of view helps to open minds to other possibilities and questions!

The problem is that nowwhere is Mayberry. It was a T.V. town back then and still don't exist today. What if we had a Sheriff and a Deputy that carried a bullet in his pocket. Kinda be hard for them to keep up with crime here even as little as we might have. I LOVE MAYBERRY, The Walton's Mountain, and sure maybe Charlies Angles but Farrah just died and we must move on. That same person still wants back the good ole days at the Skating Rink also, but they tore it down. The problem is we can't survive being Mayberry.
