Can someone more "tuned in" than I am answer a question for me please? Why does the City of Trenton need a drug dog? Is the county so hateful and stingy that they won't let the City have the use of one the the THREE dogs the county has? OOPS, TWO, one of the dogs is "retired." Who is the city's dog handler now?
I don't see why the City needs a dog or even as many officers. According to the last session of the Grand Jury there was only 1, that's ONE, true bill for the entire session. Based on this crime must have been virtually eliminated so why does the city need to spend money on a drug dog, which I'm told the Chief didn't even want, or a handler. Heck, we're getting by pretty well without a full time sheriff, (any bigfoot sightings lately? We can call Monster Quest) why can't Trenton do without a drug dog?

Might ought to check the new dog out...He/She may be a "HOT DOG"... Seems we still have a few of them around the county from time to time. Might have come out of a place without the proper rock in the yard....

What ever do you mean... Hooker has it's drug dog... I drag Bailey all over this place with me on a Golf Cart and patrol this community (including the "Upper end" of Slygo) just looking for TROUBLE! And My Daddy dind't even get me the job. I bet I work about as hard as the one Trenton has...lol...lol... Never could figure out what was going on there myself. I was told that they didn't even want to hire him and now they bought him a dog to look after and spend the money to make his patrol car, pet friendly????? I have been saying all along, that something is a-miss in the City....

You will notice that none of the media or no one for that matter ASK the question... "Does the City of Trenton really need this Drug Dog"? They just report that the city has spent over 7 grand of taxpayer money to fund the new toy for the City Police... Just like all the other "Toys" that they City of Trenton buys (waste money) on. Some might think of "Sour grapes" is me, but none will question the fact that do the Citizens of Trenton really need all these "TOYS". Rest assured that most Cities the size of Trenton don't have near the "Toys" that they have. Most of them are struggling but this City due to the fact of money flow from T.O.Y tax keeps them busy spending all the money they can get their hands on.... I just wished they spent it more on the taxpayers than buying themselves these new "Toys", but I guess in this case... A new "Pet"!

You see folks, the City has been running under the Flag of "Asking for Forgivness is eaiser than asking for Permission" but with one twist... They don't even have to ask for forgivness... They just tell the media and taxpayers what they are doing and spending the money on. Much like the FREE Bucket Truck given to Ider. Like I said.. Do the re-search yourself and just see how much money the City has spent under this MAYOR (for the lack of a better term).

Went through Ider today and had a "Bucket Truck" Sighting. It was parked all lonely by itself outside of Ider Town Hall. So Sad they don't think enough of it to put a city logo on the side... just spray paint covering the old Trenton one.

Ummm, I beg to differ with you, but the Dade County Sentinel did ask that question. Please refer to the March 31 Edition, "Drug Dog to Be Added to City's Police Force". The question was asked and a standard reply was given by Gray. From the Sentinel - "Police Commissioner Sandra Gray made a motion for the commission to approve the spending of $7,877 for a drug dog. The amount Gray requested included the price of the dog, cage and all. The new drug dog is an 18–month–old Labrador retriever and will come to the Trenton Police Department fully trained as a drug dog only.
“With the times we have today, I think we definitely need one,” Gray said." - end quote from Sentinel. I would just like to point out that you can only report what their answers are.
