Ummm, I beg to differ with you, but the Dade County Sentinel did ask that question.
I like the beg to differ! But they might have well asked the question of.. "What color is the Dog gonna be" as to let that question's answer be the final word as to why the City (who always calls the Dade Co. and Lookout Mnt. Task Force) needs to spend the money as she has already stated with the times we have today (like meaning we are in a need of money) from the taxpayers to pay for all these "Toys"!
It's like anything else, you have to be prepared to asked the "Tough Questions". But I know how it is with asking questions, because myself having asked alot and being the troublemaker that I am, fully understand what some reporters might have to face. The other? Well lets not even confuse them as to call them reporters.... lol...lol... Just Fluffers... And we all know who I'm talking about there...lol...lol...

Let me better explain myself for that last post.
As some might know, I had 20 years of construction and NO Business or Goverment Knowledge (of how things worked) much to speak of. I did however meet someone who had. When I joined the DDA and met the Mayor back then and we sat in his office with several meeting he began to teach me about how to be held accountable and what a TRUE LEADER is all about. I learned many things from this man and was proud to have leanred alot from him. He taught me that if you seen or had a vision and wanted to WORK for the Community that you still had to hold yourself accoutable. Even with the Annual Festival. Most of Dade County has NO IDEA that without the MAYOR this Festival would never have been. But most here in Dade County has never been held as accoutable as WE were putting it together either. We had to make a budget, lay out a plan and then make it work. It was to be done professinal, with ever consideradition put into ever thing we done. It was done by a COMMITTEE with minutes taken and votes done by the committee for even the smallest detail. But he laid out the ground rules (that some in Dade would call Micro-Mangement) but myself i bought into the fact of it being called accounability. I tell this small story because it was just a small detail that has long been forgotten now that he is no longer the Mayor.
I have been to the City meetings under three Mayors and only one knew how to conduct business or goverment for the citizens of Trenton. Nothing personal against the other two and not campaigning for the one either. But you cannot just spend taxpayer money and answer the question of why to spend any amount of money is "the times we have today". I am sure that Mr. Emanual would have asked the commissioner to show him in more detail to as why the City of Trenton needed to spend the money for this Drug Dog. He would have asked for the numbers showing how many times the City had to call the County for use of their dog, how much it would cost for upkeep and do a budget for this new expense. He really believed in accoutability even though there was at least one commissioner who didn't really fit in... The one that still wears the shorts to the meetings...lol...lol...lol..

That Mayor is why I believed in the Animal Shelter as much. Now that he is no longer there, I feel as most that it will just be another Good Ole Boy service to those who know how to play the game and they do it very well. I know that Ben and him butted heads as much as I did with Ben but I knew the man as much as you could have known him while he was in office. I just don't think this kind of money would have been wasted with nothing more to show for it than the toys the City now has to play with. He really was a True Leader and really taught me alot as how to hold our officials accoutable. I also think that he was right wanting to "Look" into the fact of combining the City and County for their services. Just look at the money wasted for the same services such as the Drug Dog. But when he spoke to the wrong person about looking into the opition, someone made a "Big Deal" about that fact and NOTHING would have worked because of the Good Ole Boy system getting messed with...lol...lol...
And to make this long and sad story end... You are right, they did ask the question and got one answer that was nothing more than a "Blow Job" toward the media and the citizens and Taxpayers of Trenton.
