Got this via facebook. Trees for Dade
Time Saturday, October 15 · 11:00am - 5:00pm Location Trenton City Park 100 Price Street Created By Katie Kasch, Keith Bien More Info As you probably know, Trenton, GA and Dade County were hit very hard by tornadoes during April and June. Since the storms, our organization, Tree City, has been wanting to make a restorative effort. We have hoped to do this by lifting community spirits and reviving our county's natural beauty. We are now doing just that with our "Trees for Dade" concert. Our non-profit organization has purchased 5,000 trees to give to residents and businesses who suffered loss during the storms. While many people are still rebuilding their homes, we hope that with our small gesture, our community can plant these trees as a way of starting over and reviving our community.
Tree City will be hosting a free benefit concert in Trenton, GA that will provide an opportunity for people to sign up to receive trees, learn about replanting, and grow to appreciate our native forests. This event will host education booths, fun for kids, food vendors, and free live music. Musicians include Norman Blake, Dalton Roberts, Bob De Young, as well as other local performers and storytellers.
Norman Blake is a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist who has been involved in many projects, as well as films including "O Brother, Where Are Thou", "Cold Mountain", and "Walk the Line".
This event is free and open to the public. The schedule for musical acts is as follows:
11:15 -11:45 David James 12:00 -12:30 Peggy and Patty 1:00 -1:45 The Biddles 2:00 - 2:45 Bob De Young 3:00 - 3:45 Dalton Roberts 4:00 - 4:45 Norman Blake

Musicians unite to help restore Dade County forests By Casey Phillips Staff Writer A riddle: If a tree falls in the woods, how many bands does it take to replace it? Apparently, the answer is six, based on the lineup for Trees for Dade, a benefit concert taking place Saturday in Trenton, Ga. In addition to enjoying a schedule of live performances headlined by Dalton Roberts and Norman Blake, Dade County residents will be able to sign up to receive seedlings to replace trees lost during the April 27 tornadoes. “The biggest treasure in Dade County is its natural beauty,” said Keith Bien, a member of Trenton’s Tree City. “Some of the neighborhoods that were most affected [by the storms] were completely changed because of tree loss. “We would like to do what we can to restore that natural beauty.” Trenton’s Tree City purchased about 5,000 seedlings from the Georgia Forestry Commission this August. Bien said the organization intentionally chose seedlings representing slower-growing but hardier hardwood species native to the Southern Appalachians, including pin oak, sawtooth oak, yellow poplar, green ash, dogwood, crepe myrtle and crabapple. “People in general have been leery of pine trees, which have not done well with the drought during the last 10 years, and many of them have fallen over,” Bien said. “The ones we’re planting will all be longterm hardwoods.” Those who sign up will receive seedlings in January. Educational booths at the concert will offer information on forest ecology and demonstrate the proper method for planting. Volunteers also can sign up to help ensure the trees actually make it in the ground. Trees for Dade was organized in a hurry, and at first, Bien said he expected the event to attract only a handful of local artists. Norman Blake has not played in public much in recent years, however, and having his name on the bill should increase the concert’s draw, Bien said. “We could see as many as a couple thousand people,” he said. “We’re excited. It’s going to be a fun day.”

Glad to see the park getting used again. I can't think of a more beautiful place to hold and event as it. Funny that finally someone was able to get Norman Blake to perform. We tried for years, but he along with the Forrester Sisters seemed not to be interested. We will be at Ketners Mill this weekend, but I wish them much sucess.......

Always wondered if the name Norman Blake would draw a crowd and now I see. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ By: Robin Ford Wallace, Reporter
Trenton Tree City’s free concert on Saturday, “Trees for Dade,” did not draw as many attendees as, say Woodstock, but a crowd of 50 or 60 had gathered by 4 p.m. when headliner Norman Blake took the stage, and organizers said they were pleasantly surprised at the funds they raised through contributions and a silent auction.
I was amazed at the folks that turned out for the Ketners Mill Craft show, even seeing a few Dade County folks that I know. Such a shame that this county can only support one thing.... SPORTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
