If I knew how to do a survey I'd do one on this topic but since I don't I'll just ask some questions here.

1. If a county vehicle is involved in a traffic violation and the county gets a ticket mailed to the commission office (red light cameras and automated radar), who should pay the ticket, the county or the employee?

2. What if that county vehicle was driven by an elected official? Does that matter?

3. What if that county vehicle was a vehicle only driven by the sheriff?

4. If the elected official has to pay should they pay out of their own pocket or through an account that they control.

Looking forward to responses.

Let me get this clear... A camera actually caught a picture of "Our Sheriff" who was driving a county vehicle and used the "Budget" to pay his ticket when he was out of AREA! Well at least there is a Picture of the Sheriff to prove he was doing something!

Wonder if the pictures/video were turned in with the expense report? The county should demand them to make sure it was someone authorized to drive the vehicle. I am betting the local media will be to scared to run a story on this.

I don't think the fine has been paid, to Hamilton County, yet. I hear that the commission office got not one but TWO tickets for speeding that need to be paid. The dilemma, I hear, is do they just pay the tickets, plead for Hamilton County to waive them or pass them to the Sheriff. If they do get sent to the sheriff how will he pay them do you think? It was his truck unless he gave someone else authority to drive it. Boy this SHOULD be embarrassing but probably isn't.

In answer to the "did we get a picture" the answer is no. He's still MIA.

Well I heard the camera was on Broad St. for 48 in a 35 and the county does have the picture. They don't think he paid it with county funds. Wonder if there was anyone else in the vehicle. The other ticket was for parking in the wrong direction. Funny thing those traffic cams don't play political favors and I guess meter maids don't either. Where is Robert T to expose this when we need him?
Of course we won't be able to verify this until we do a public records request Monday

A picture? Let me get this straight! Somewhere, Someone has taken a PICTURE of the Sheriff? Are we sure about this Picture? Of the Sheriff? That's kinda like our Nessie ain't it. Can we confim or Deny that a PICTURE has been taken of "Our Sheriff"? Heck, I'll pay the ticket if someone will show us a Picture of "Our Sheriff"! My gosh, that in itself has to be worth something.. A PICTURE you say? Of "Our Sheriff"? Must be a mistake in this story somewhere...

One of my daughter's favorite shows on TV is Monsterquest where they are always looking for some "monster" that they never seem to be able to find. I think we're nearing a point where there may be as many bigfoot sightings in Dade as sheriff sightings. Maybe we should start tweeting sheriff sightings?
