Now I chose not to confront Mrs. Sheila on the website in favor of her response speaking for itself. I however would like to tell everone that the 3 State 3 Mountain Bike RIDE actually has two routes. One for the people who need the challenge and the other for those who just want a Bike RIDE. It is made up the same day and lets folks ride right by my house and it has kids and alot of familys and I would welcome to CLOSE the Road till the last cyclist had gone by. I would also suggest that Peter Cervelli has been given the bird by other folks as well as myself I sure during any given day. I really think that Sheila needs to focus on something she can control, because like it or not, the Commission CAN NOT shut down the Cyclist coming through this county.
From Ketner's Mill, enjoy the countryside on your way to the second rest stop on TVA Road. From here, you cross the Tennessee River via the "Blue Bridge". A right turn takes you to the route split. Metric riders turn left ontoTN134, which becomes (GA299). Continue on this to US 11. Turn left on US11 for a short distance then turn right on Old Wauhatchie Pike. Follow Old Wauhatchie Pike until you come to US 11 again. Turn right and continue around the foot of Lookout Mountain to Broad Street and a short trip back to Finley Stadium, food, drink and hot showers.
Just got off the phone with Peter and he assured me that yes, he has been given the finger by more than just cyclist... lol...lol...lol..

This is about the most short-sighted thing I've ever seen. I agree with previous posters that the neverending junk sale is more dangerous, inconvenient and lasts longer than this bike ride. I say we cancel it if safety and inconvenienced residents is the issue. Put me down as a business, Defend Yourself, LLC, as supporting the ride.

Now a new true director of recreation would help find this ride out. Talk about sharing the road. They can't use another route for 5 hours the cars I mean. I hope they are ready for another ride to be unnamed on Oct. 6 I think.

They should call this Bike Ride... 3-State 3-Mountain and West Brow! Amazing out of the 100 miles and all those Bike Riders, it comes down to one community in Dade County... Just like the Hangliders. We are proud to be so stupid.

As you will see in the video that the interview was gave by a West Brow resident claiming the the Cyclist think they own the road, but in the next breath, that they (Cyclist) in her opinion need to find another route. So who is acting like they own the road? The Cyclist who she calls arrogant or her because she lives there (is from around here) and she thinks she has say-so for this issue. You see my point? HHHMMMMM
Another Dade County issue on ignorance! I wished she could have finsihed it up with "It sounded like a TRAIN"!

We talk about trying to get a supplier to VW. Let's just show another example of how VW likes bikers. Volkswagen Group of America makes $10,900 contribution to SORBA-Chattanooga’s trail efforts http://sorbachattanooga.org/wordpress/?p=1872
Quote:
Chattanooga, TN – May, 2010 – Volkswagen Group of America has made a $10,900 contribution to the Chattanooga chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA). SORBA-Chattanooga will use the donated funds to construct and complete phase I of a new multiuse trail network at Enterprise South Nature Park. Phase I consists of a 3.5 loop trail, a 2.5 loop trail, a 2 mile loop trail and a technical skill building area for mountain bikers. Eight miles of single-track trail will be added to Hamilton County’s newest wilderness park, complete by the summer of 2010.
“We are extremely appreciative of Volkswagen’s contribution,” said Minya James, SORBA-Chattanooga’s trails director. “With the funds they have contributed we will be able to complete of our first phase of trail building at Enterprise South.”
“Thanks to the ongoing support of the Hamilton County Parks Department and Volkswagen’s generous donation, citizens are going to have a brand new, very well designed and easily accessible trail system at their fingertips,” adds James.
Enterprise South Nature Park trails have been designed to accommodate a wide variety of trail users and to offer something for both the new outdoor enthusiast and the well seasoned trail advocate. The new trail network is an important part of SORBA-Chattanooga’s Singletrack Mind Initiative, a plan implemented to help SORBA-Chattanooga open and access 100 miles of single-track trails within 10 miles of the city center.

Bike ride good for health, tourism
Quote:
The 3 State 3 Mountain Bicycle Ride has been a boon to Chattanooga and local communities.
Not only does it shed a positive light on the area, it boosts local revenues and promotes tourism and a healthy lifestyle.
With nearly a third of the Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia populations being obese and two-thirds overweight, we should all embrace events and activities that encourage exercise and weight loss. I encourage the local citizenry to continue to support this ride and effectively seek a solution to safely preserve the current route, even if it means rerouting automobile traffic on Burkhalter Gap Road for the day of the ride.

I thought it was great to. You are going to have some that will always be again it. We had some that left early. They were for it and again it. I got my a$$ chewed out for some generality I made back in July I couldn't even remember. http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2010 ... nge-route/ Funny thing on my way home I tried to go the speedlimit down burkhalter. It is 55 in some places. I couldn't. I feel the speed limit needs to be 45 going down it. Oh yea and someone was riding my bumper. After I relistened to this quote.
it would have scared me someone coming out. Matter of fact just driving down burkhalter scares me just the grade alone makes it so one wrong move and it is an accident. I would bet an engineering study, a true one by a liscensed engineer, would drop parts to 35 in the steepest of grades on the down hill side. For all you against it readers be prepared for some love on this board in the next few days as we write up this meeting.
