And they wonder why no one wants to get involved in anything here in Dade County... Why bother? People have spent alot of time trying to WELCOME these Bikes and our so-called leadership wants them to stay the heck out... Good Plan....

I say we all get our tractors and drive up and down Burkhalter. I bet mine is a lot slower than a bunch of bikes. Oh yeh and with my triangle its legal.

What would be really funny is if the bike people got with the new governor and the governor treated it like the tour of GA. You know "This is the Governor's Office and we just wanted to inform you that we are shutting down the following roads ...you can either help or not but either way we are shutting you down."

Just got home from a meeting about this issue. We are looking for people and business owners who "SUPPORT" this cause to let their voice be heard. I would recommend calling the commission and tell them that the idea of telling someone they are NOT WELCOME in this county is sending a wrong message. You can't dictate to people what they can and can't do if no law is broken and if one is broken it is the place of Law Enforcement and NOT the commission.

I still can't get over the article in the Sentinel. I had to leave for Virgina to a race but I wished I had been there to show myself again like the ole days. This issue is just plain stupid. We have elected a commission that is so stupid in it's thinking that we can't even get out of our own way. If Lamar thinks that the letter to the editor was bad, he has yet to hear from me. I'm just letting some others have the time to call him out on this issue. I get so tired of being the Bad Guy on County issues, but this one takes the cake. I hope that the Chamber of Commerce will get involved (Not Scared of losing funding) and stand up for something that brings people into this community. I will do my part and am asking you to do yours.

And I think everone can tell that I don't ride bikes, so it ain't that, and I have helped with the Bike Ride for years without any pay what-so-ever but have enjoyed having them here. You have 364 days and 19 hours to find something else to grype about so how about that......

Submitted By: Sheila Submitted: 7/7/2010 These cyclists did agree to comply with certains rules this past May. They did not, as Lamar Lowery stated. The people who were at this event were Peter cervelli and Ted Rumley.Peter was given the finger more than once and it is my understanding this was witnessed by Ted Rumley. They were supposed to wear numbers to help identify themselves. When questioned by mr. Rumley they responded that they were told (by the event organizers) they did not have to. I have a copy of all of the stipulations and agreements from the commission and the Sheriff Dept. If you think you should allow the Co. to close Burkhalter, redirect them through your neighborhood and shut your road down. As for Scottie how does a donation to your fire Dept. help this community? Seems like you should host them in your area>
Submitted By: Rex Harrison Submitted: 7/7/2010 This is fast becoming another "Hanglider" debate with the commission tying to dictate who and what can come into this county of which they have no jurisdiction. There are a group of Dade Couty citizens and business owners who had banned together to send this commission a message of what authority they have over this group of Bike Riders. "If" it is a "Saftey Issue" as they had tried to claim then I recommend them closing the road down to make it safer for everone. It is about as safe as the two yard sell events we have come through this county ever year. Do we set guidelines to them? When will this end?
