Sheriff Cannon Has His Say 6/16/2010 .......But I disagree with the governor raising the price – and lawmakers, whoever it might be – raising the prices of their services and the costs of their services to burden the counties.”.....
Let's see instead of generalities let us look at who is responsible for the increase. If you are meaning House bill 1055 in which the state is raising fees. That is what a lot of sheriffs are saying. http://www.lamarcountysheriff.com/records.html
Quote:
On May 12, 2010 Governor Perdue signed into law HB1055. Section 1-43 of this legislation provided for an increase to the fees for services provided by Georgia Sheriffs. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office effected the change in fees collected on May 17, 2010. Please see the updated schedule of fees to ensure correct payments are remitted for services.
Then maybe a look at the votes would show you Rep. Scott voted against this bill and Senator Mullis voted in favor of it. http://www.legis.ga.gov/legis/2009_10/sum/hb1055.htm As you can see below we have been watching the session all the time instead of just waking up after the fact and wondering what happened. want-to-see-a-preview-of-the-tax-i-mean-fee-increase-t251.html A lot of us have been getting tired of just hearing so and so does so much for us in Dade and the mean time no one is watching their votes. Maybe in the future you will too. Word of advice call them . One may be a little hard to get in touch with like you, but Rep Scott will ususally call you back and he even likes text messages. With Mullis just like you you well just have to leave a message with his secretary.

That's the thing with this county and how it votes. We don't care about no voting record or who's fault that it's costing us more. I will have to say that David is right on track with this post. Take the time, do a little re-search on the subject before getting on the front page of the paper pointing a finger at Georgia Goverment. That's why why elect local, so that we can be represented. Yes., Mr. Mullis will remain in office but it won't be with my vote because of his voting record. I have said many times, many ways... Don't just listen to what they SAY, but watch what they DO!

Seeing and hearing the Sheriff on his "Media Tour" I overheard KWN "Tha Fluffer" this moring talking about these Fee increases that their boy Mullis was a captain of, but somehow forgot to mention that in the interview. They did however say that most of the money would go to the state but the county would get to keep a little of it, and it wasn't added in the Revenue side so there might be a winfall for us come cashflow time for us this year. Just another way for "Tha Fluffer" to do his thing....lol...lol...lol...lol... Another "Neat" (Tha Fluffers word) is that the County Inmates might have a garden to work in the future, but I was suprised to hear that the Sheriff want's to do more re-search on the Kitchen issue.....

Well we do have a couple of Million laying around that the IDB could by a farm with. They don't seem to have much luck getting any industry here. So maybe we could build a bigger Jail and fill it up with Farm Hands to work the farm and then we would have farm products to sell to make the county money.
