Now after reading the ordinance, how many others wanted to laugh while reading it? It makes for some pretty good humor if I have to say so myself. Wonder if the commissioners laughed or if they even read it? Yea, it has all the legal stuff as the words like whereas and therefores in it but all the other stuff is just plain funny. Thanks David for getting this ordinance and posting it here on dadeinfo whereas the only place it will be posted, therefor it caused me to laugh!...lol...lol... Good Job Sheriff, now lets get them rides that sit out front of the business that cost a quater to ride.....lol...lol...

While some people may have a problem with this blog site, it is here and HERE ALONE that this topic was even discussed in reading the ordinance. It was the ONLY place the ordinance was put out to be read by the folks of Dade County. I want to COMMEND the commissioners for finally taking in account of actually reading and considering all the options before passing this ordinance. WELL DONE to all the commissioners and thank you David for asking and posting the ordinance. I may not agree with the next ordinance but I have to say that at least they read this one....

As for an update. I drove by there on Thursday on my way up to Davis. The parking lot was full. Looks like their business is booming. I wonder if the chamber is going to do a ribbon cutting.

Not sure which is funnier. The ordinance the Sheriff wanted the Commission to pass or the article written in the Sentinel this week quoteing the Executive and the Sheriff....
Why was a cash-payout establishment allowed to operate in a no-cash-payout state?
Accordingly, the Sentinel posed that question to Dade County Executive Ted Rumley the next morning. His answer:
“Ask the sheriff.”
Which Rumley said he already had. He said he and the other commissioners had not understood that Internet gambling was already taboo in Georgia when they were asked to outlaw it in Dade by ordinance, and that when he’d learned he’d asked Cannon: “You’re telling me this is illegal, and it’s been illegal, then why haven’t we closed them down? Go over there and arrest them.”
Rumley said he hadn’t gotten an answer but accepted that Cannon, not he, was in charge of law enforcement in the county. “They may have some kind of big top-secret sting going on, is the reason they can’t tell us,” he said. “There’s got to be a reason that that one and the one up on the north end haven’t been shut down.”
As to “the one up on the north end”: Rumley said he’d also asked Cannon about operations in a small block building in North Dade near the Tennessee border, where some nights he saw 40 to 50 cars parked, and where he understood there was also illegal gaming. “That’s big-time gambling going on up there,” said Rumley. “He said, well, they’ve got the door locked so we can’t even get in.”
So the Sentinel did take the question to Sheriff Cannon: How come Lucky Peaches is allowed to operate if cash payouts are illegal?
Cannon said he’d purely love to answer that but had to pass. “At this point in time, I’ve been instructed I cannot comment on it,” he said.

This was taken for the article written in the Sentinel....
Now Ted, seems you have been listening to the Sheriff to much during the Community Meetings... There is now way in HECK that many cars can even park in that parking lot... Just say there are a number of cars parked there on any given time in a building suspected of housing illegal gambling..... Cause the next line makes you wonder if the owner sits there and says... Oh NO here comes Ted, the County Executive everone... Lock the doors and be real quite and he'll think that no one is here......lol...lol...
