I guess all those running are thinking what is BEST for Dade County I bet. Just don't forget the most important lines while running for office other than School Board. "Ya'll know me, I'm from around here" While the School Board line is of course... "It's fer the Kids"!

I saw David Duvall today and Danny Hall Jr. They both confirmed they are running for Probate Judge.
Danny Hall Jr. is the son of former Sole Commissioner Dan Hall. Mr Hall is a former coroner and was very vocal against the city's ordinance that would allow beer and wine sales in restaurants.
Both seemed to think the the race for Probate Judge would be a quiet one and that the Sheriff's one would get a little heated. Ii have heard from various sources that former Lookout Mt. Commissioner Allan Bradford plans to run for his old slot again. County Commissioners now run countrywide. I have heard other rumors of those running for sheriff and have talked to one. I will let you know when they let me make the announcement.
In other notes. I spoke with election superintendent about when candidates need to start filing state ethics forms. She said this is now handled at the state level. Candidates need to start filing electronically when the start receiving money, they or someone else starts making expenditures (even in kind ones) or they qualify.

You have to recognize the importance of Both those "Local Names" being from Around Here. That is what makes them the "most qualified"!
Does anyone know where Mr. Duvall goes to Church, for that is really important also in this County. If it's the Biggest Church building he might have the slight edge over the one that has the "Look at Me" Preacher!

As I was shopping locally today at bottom dollar tool I happened to run into Alan Bradford. He told me he is running for the Lookout Mountain District for County Commission. And remember those running for commissioner now have to run county-wide.

Let me admit one thing FIRST. I was dooped as many was on the Sheriff's race a few years back. But having said that, elections in Dade County are funny to watch. To see the agenda's of some folks is just plain funny. Let's take this next year..... One Judge is retiring.. It's a pretty good gig if you can get it I suppose (pays pretty good being at home with being seen as somebody and having "Control") and look at how many will run for this position and "If" they are qualified or just think it might be "Fun"! The next will be the Clerk's of Superior Court in which she has now pee-ed off so many employees that surely someone will run against her???? The District Commissioners race this year will include Lookout Mnt. South end, and Executive. Now with the South end fully controled by a "Sure enough Goodin' with working so hard with his "Boss" the icon of the Good Ole Boys (ever heard the Story about his Dad and the Bear)? things will pretty much stay the same. Now the Lookout Mnt. race will be something to watch. While I have worked with Peter "C" because most folks can't even pronounce his name and we all know "ain't from around here", he's one of them Yankees trying to tell us how to run this County against one of this County's most reconized utilities men, who is from around here and carries a large family name with some pretty good family stories with him (maybe not as good as the Rumley Bear Story)..... And the fact that this election for Commissioners will be County wide which will doom ole Peter from the start. Then comes the "BIGGEST" race in this County and has for years. Who will be our next Sheriff? Like I said earlier, I have never been so ashamed that I spent alot of my time helping work for this man and believing that he was the future of this County in Law Enforcement. Not that I disagree that he should have had the chance but with that said he has let alot of folks down (not just me) in NOT doing "HIS JOB"! I will hope to never get as close to an election as that anymore, because of being let down by someone who I spent at least over a year listening and helping spread the word that wasn't much more than a LIE in my eyes. I personally will never be able to "Push the Button" for Mr. Cannon again. This "Johnny come lately" will not sway me because he knows about how I feel about that last second chance that was given to the Sheriff before him. It's just sad to see someone work hard for the job and quit after they are elected..... So we have at least three that have pretty much commited and two more "Thinking" of running. Three, I guess you could now call Sheriff Cannon being from the "Old School" and two being from the "New School" of not being in the past Dept. Leadership. If" one of them "New School" works hards, it should make for an interesting race in this election.

Oh and I forgot about the School Board but that's pretty much a wash because all you do is "Yes" vote the Superintendent and agree that we need to spend more money to make our school system better by winning ball games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And please don't forget to now always vote Republican because it's the "IN" thing to do and THEY are the only qualified Christians that are running for office. Or at least that's what I have heard....lol..lol...lol...

I have heard two other rumors of those running for Sheriff. Tim Prince who is the night time supervisor for the Marion County Sheriff's Department. I have spoken with Tim and he seems promising. Sounds like Tim has some great ideas. I have also heard rumors of Phillip Street running. I have not confirmed this one so I don't know if it is true. I have heard speculation of a couple others running for probate. It will be interesting to see if anyone runs for the DA after the Tonya Craft trial.
