Here goes. This is of special interest to me. Recently there was a dog napping of a pure bred dog in the south end of the county. I noticed in the Sentinel this week a Westie was "lost" in the north end. If anyone has any information about other such thefts, please contact me on this board. I am putting together a file of the incidents. This seems to be happening too much in the area.

Thanks for your help on this, Mel. I would also encourage everyone to keep an eye out on your own dogs, as well as your neighbors. If you do see any suspicious activity (especially someone taking an animal), by all means try to get a description of the perpetrator(s), their vehicle, and their license plate number to give to the Dade County Sheriff's Department. Together, we can make a difference, and hopefully bring these thefts to an end by catching (and prosecuting) the hoodlum(s) responsible.

I can tell you one thing. The dogs around here are part of the clan. Let one of them come up missing and I won't stop until something is done. Especailly with all that was gather on the last one. Let's just say there would be Helen to pay.

So...we have a police report, a description of the vehicle, and no local media coverage about a story with a consistent pattern of thieves stealing pure bred dogs?

Not just a description of the vehicle, they have the tag number and someone who identified the perpetrator from an unofficial photo lineup and still no arrest. This is not new in Dade County. Where's the sheriff on this? You might as well ask "where's Waldo." There are folks who have bragged AT CHURCH about stealing dogs that weren't being "cared for" adequately.

Might have to send out "The Dogs" to look for the Sheriff. Anyway, I find it funny that certain people decide what dogs they consider is being "cared for" adequately. Just think if we were to take it upon ourselves to decide who's kids are "cared for" and just thought we would "take them" and send them to Atlanta. But oh well, they are so connected with all their political pull, nothing will be done. Not saying that I agree that they have pull, just that they seem to make others think they do.

Heard with my own ears, the person on interest in this case and their friend was bragging about taking dogs in the night. It has escalated to daytime nappings now. Might watch those larger animals.
