With his run-off election against former secretary of state Karen Handel exactly two weeks away, Republican gubernatorial hopeful Nathan Deal made an appearance in Ringgold Tuesday night at Alvin and Pat Worley’s Outback.
After arriving by helicopter and landing in an open field, Deal mingled among the Catoosa County leaders, which included state Rep. Jay Neal of LaFayette, Catoosa County sheriff Phil Summers, and District 2 county commissioner hopeful Stephanie Dickert, who likewise will be competing in a run-off on Aug. 10 against incumbent Bobby Winters for a county commissioner's seat.
“I’m really happy to be here, and I thank everybody for coming out tonight,” Deal said after arriving.
The Aug. 10 run-off between Deal and Handel will determine who will run against Democratic candidate Roy E. Barnes in the general election for governor in November.
“We’re going to do what we can and give it our best shot,” Deal said
