We have a prospect. Oh wait, we passed a resolution to keep them away. Took time at the meeting and the press to explain this is a stinking company we ain't fer that around hear. Oh wait, we actually found out what kind of business they are, and they won't stink up the county. Sorry just got slapped from the Southeast Development district for opening my mouth on the radio. Oh, the Chattanooga Chamber seemed to be laughing at me. Ok, I am going down to Atlanta to beg for the jobs now we are for you now. Opp's, we forgot to resend the resolution that we didn't want them. Let us pray they will come. Let's spin it to a VW story. They are just slow to commit as Mullis said. Oh wait, we have no property for the IDA even though it was all set up. I guess we need to go to Germany with the rest of the commission to make this happen. We Will Get It Done.

Hey, did you hear about the Catoosa county 'secret' new retail extravaganza? The mayor of Fort O says that it will bring in $100 mil in revenue next year. Why not Dade?

We don't even know what Cosco (I mean the secret company) is and what they are about. We are still demanding that the Chamber get KFC to come into Dade County! We didn't want Wal-Mart or anyone like that.

What is even more funny is where this location is. You see I have to drive all over the southeast area and see where and what is going on outside of Dade County. I have been seeing for the last two years of them getting this property ready for Development. Not sure if it was being done by the seller or who but here in Dade County we are worried about a little Limestone and a Branch ruinning 240 acres of property to build on. What did they call this secret project? The Hill or something? They moved alot of earth to leval out this hudge amount of land to get it ready to build on. You build it and they will come.

Now the problem is that we have leaders who NEVER leave Dade County and see what others are doing. The only reason Ted leaves Dade County is to go to Atlanta now just because he feels like he has to. If not for that, he would never even leave this county and see anything other than here. As far as the other commissioners they need to get out more and see for themselves what goes on in other places.

So is is a Costco...... OOOOOO, aren't they special. I guess all that deconstruction on Cloud Springs to 75 is going to pay off. I used to live just over the hill from there. Wonder if the Mashburns had anything in on it. It sure would have been nice to have something like that here........

Folks, if a Costco does move into Catoosa County there is a reason for it; there is enough business/demand there to support it. Nobody is going to invest that much money to build a facility where there aren't enough people with enough money to support it. We missed our best chance to get a big box retailer when we elected not to pursue Wal-Mart. Now that they're 9 miles north of Trenton we will never get it now, especially in this economy. Go look in the parking lot on Saturday and see how many Dade County tags there are. Those could have all been parked at a Dade County Wal-Mart but instead the sales tax goes to Tennessee.

I also see people lamenting the fact that we don't have any industry moving in. I pushed on the IDA for 2 years till I got tired of trying to spur on a dead horse to get it to the finish line. Within 6 months of taking office I forced the IDA to close a deal on the last big employer who built in the Industrial Park. If I hadn't intervened it would still not be there. I'm not blowing my own horn, just stating a fact. Even after the deal was closed a former commissioner and a current commissioner tried to brow beat the IDA into canceling the deal. Don't believe it? Go ask the owner. THAT's the kind of mentality you have in Dade County.

Anyone remember who cautioned and voted against giving the IDA SPLOST money to buy property????? Oh yeah, that was me. :) I almost forgot.
