We have now changed the name to the Dade County Puppy Patrol. What's up with all the drama over mis-treated animals? Now I love my dog as much (if not more) than alot of folks, but come on! I guess the Sheriff must have needed a headline this week????????????? Well then... Good Job!!!!!!!! I guess we can add for a stastic of lives saved and add all the animals to it... Will really look good, come election time....

Of the arrest made in a week, how do we decide which is News-Worthy and just those whose name is listed as an arrest made???????

The Question I have from the "Fluffer" story is this..."If the Conditions were so bad why were they allowed to keep one adult dog and 4 puppies"??? Lets look at it this way if it had been child abuse would they took some kids and left others???

People need to look a little deeper in this case to see the picture. We are all in trouble if we allow this kind of "enforcement" to take place. The only difference from two years ago with the missing pets (stolen) is now they have the Sheriff's Dept. doing the dirty work. By all accounts these folks have served in the community and are guilty of nothing more than anyone else in this county at some time or other since we have NO ZONEING! Charges should be dropped and dogs returned to owners. Guess if they had a pocket full of money, they would... But since they "ain't from around here" they don't stand a chance...

Some things smell like "Dog Poop" I have to wonder if this might not be one of them. Once again if thing were so bad why leave an adult dog and 4 puppies... Something smells on this one and I dont think it is "Dog Poop"...

Happens quite often there CASPER.

But after watching a real news station today (Channel 9 News), seems once again we are on the "Right Track"!

A Dade County couple faces animal cruelty charges after police seized 17 great danes from their Rising Fawn home last Thursday.

A deputy, who was responding to a barking complaint from a neighbor, said the kennels did not have water or food. "Dames for Danes," a great dane rescue organization that took most of Gerrells' dogs, said the animals appeared to be very thin and covered in fleas. A few have heartworms and one dog died in their care although they don't know who is responsible.

Corey and Rebecca Gerrells explained their side of the story with Newschannel 9. "The whole thing was a complete misunderstanding, they came at the complete worst time they possibly could have," says Corey Gerrells, "It had rained that day and because of the rain, she had dumped the food out of the buckets and dumped the water."

The Gerrells breed great danes but do not have a current license. They insist they did not neglect their dogs and claims the k-9s were in good condition. Dade County Chief Magistrate Joel McCormick agrees for the most part. He said most of the dogs appeared to be healthy and says the animal cruelty charge mainly stems from no food and water in the kennels.

When officers seized the great danes last week, they also noticed what appeared to be faulty wiring and feces inside the Gerrells' home and temporarily placed the couple's three children in protective custody. A judge ruled for the kids to return Monday. The couple said the home is being remodeled but conditions are liveable.

Now first of all you can't enforce laws that have not been passed. We have NO ZONEING and we can't play "Big Brother" to everone. We have NO LAWS that say you can TAKE anyones animal because the water and food bowl is empty. You can't take kids because there is Dog Crap on the floor. Even in the "Real World" you have to give the owers a CHANCE to fix an issue when you have the AUTHORITY TO DO SO. Which here in Dade County both the newly named Tri-State animal takers nor the Sheriff's Dept. has that AUTHORITY!
