I have seen the County Agenda for this weeks meeting and hoping that the Commissioners are Planning on paying for the Service of at least 2 ambulances in the County at ALL TIMES. I understand that we get what we pay for but we need to funding for them BOTH and not have to wait from Chatt. for one to get here at NIGHT, when the other is on a call.

In an interview this morning on KWN "Tha Fluffer" Ted said..... That we don't need no more Ambulance Service than we GOT. Why? Because he listens to the radio all the time and don't hear the need for it... So that makes it ok? Let's look at it like this then. I listen to the radio alot also and I don't hear the call for all the "Fire Engines" or County or City Police needing that many Cars and Trucks so with that said, I see the need to cut back on them also.......
But I happen to know for a FACT that there is a need for more than one Ambulance in this County during the night, but as long as Ted Says!

Looks like Puckett EMS got the latest contract for ambulance service in Dade County. http://dadesentinel.com/v2/content.aspx ... berID=1338 . When I spoke with Sandra Gray she said they hoped they would hire all the people that currently worked for Earlanger. Most of them are Dade County residents. According to this article they also getting the one to our neighbor to the North in Marion County. http://timesfreepress.com/news/2011/oct ... on-county/ Ambulance service set for Marion County
Quote:
Ambulance service set for Marion County By By Ryan Lewis/Correspondent Sunday, October 30, 2011 JASPER, Tenn. -- After months of sending out requests for proposals, the Marion County Commission is nearly ready to hire a new ambulance service.
County Mayor John Graham said the commission's Ambulance Committee recently interviewed three prospective companies for the job.
Puckett EMS in Austell, Ga., was the clear choice, he said.
"There was unanimous approval [by the committee] to make a recommendation to the board that we begin the process of entering into contract negotiations with Puckett EMS," Graham said. "This was obviously, in the committee members' minds, the best option for the county, and I would agree with that."
The board unanimously approved the committee's recommendation.
Puckett EMS launched a new operations division in Chattanooga last year, officials said, and the company is now a service partner with Erlanger Health System.
Officials said a new chairman for the Ambulance Committee will be chosen soon. Graham, County Attorney Billy Gouger and that person will negotiate the contract with Puckett EMS and bring it back to the Ambulance Committee for consideration, they said.

I am also "Hearing" alot from this new contract that has been signed. It's a shame that the City can vote spend money to "House" the new Ambulance service and not give any other details. Seems something is up with that. I always have said that even in a county as small as ours, we need TWO FULL TIME units on call at all times. I have seen days and nights when that wasn't even close to being enough at that.
Now back to "Hearing" about this new service. We should be looking to all be "Hearing" some good news from this service soon. Let's hope we have folks in place to make this service happen to provide more than just a few jobs here in the county. I can only hope that the City had this idea in mind when voting to spend money in a time that they are also asking to borrow money........... Having spent time in the Chamber and DDA, I understand the importance of keeping a "tight lip" but I can only hope that what I am "Hearing" is true...............................................................

I have spent the last few days trying to find out about the "New Deal" with this Ambulance service. I still don't understand how this deal was done. I know that there were a "Board" formed to take the task of getting around the Commissioners meeting on the issue. What I don't understand is why both the County and now City has had it's meeting but still have not let the public know what is going on. The only thing we are sure about is that the City is spending money on a County Function. EMS is a county expense and not supposed to base it on the City expense. I understand spending money to get a service but wonder if the same deal was offered to all bidders and what was the deal? There is something called open goverment but we all know that we are in Dade County. I know at least three of the "Board Members" and am trying to get the names of the other two. I don't understand how the media can miss as much as they do when it comes to county business, but I guess talking about a book being banned is more important than the Cost of taxpayers money for services.

Well after reading this weeks article in the Dade County Sentinel, I am more convinced that once again we have fired the "Ready Aim Fire Bullet that shows the kind of leadership we have in this county. Now I understand that most folks don't pay attention to what goes on in this county unless it affects them personally... But please take the time to read my last post and this weeks article and see if you would agree that things are pretty much a cluster when it comes to this issue....
Rogers was also bidden to work toward resolving another question that was deferred to the special called meeting: whether or not the city of Trenton can honor its pledge to go halves with the county in refurbishing a building to house emergency medical service vehicles and personnel.
Lifeguard EMS, Dade’s current ambulance service provider, has for its three-year tenure been housed in a rented building on Main Street. But on New Year’s Eve, a new provider, Puckett EMS, will take over, providing two full-time ambulances, and the county and city had planned to alter the current downtown fire hall to accommodate those vehicles and the Puckett staff to man them.
As previously reported, the Trenton City Commission at its last meeting had approved up to $40,000 for its share of that renovation. But Rogers told the commissioners that the city’s intention to use SPLOST (special purpose local option sales tax) funds for improvements to a building owned by the county makes the plan legally iffy.
“I’m not sure about the idea of spending city SPLOST money on county property. That’s the legal issue that I had,” explained Rogers after the commission’s work session. “But I don’t want to be in the position of advising the city what they can and cannot do,” he added.
Thus, he told the commissioners, he had consulted with Trenton’s city attorney, Ron Womack, on this question, and Womack in turn was seeking further advice. “That’s being looked at on the city side, but my understanding is they’re willing to do that if somehow it can legally be done,” he said.
Chairman Rumley hoped that it could. “We’re in this together,” he said. “We need to agree to agree that we want that to happen.”
District 4 Commissioner Peter Cervelli said such an arrangement would benefit the county financially. “We’ll save $40,000 just in rental costs over the next three years,” he said.
Rumley said that regardless of what the city does, the county must forge ahead with the renovation, which he estimated would cost about $50,000. “We’re pouring concrete Saturday morning,” he said. “We’ll do it whether they’re on board or not.”
I would remind Mr. Rumley that the county had already started on the project of adding to the firehouse (grading and gravel) before the City DID Vote to give the County 40 grand for their part of money that I still say, is using both City and County SPLOST money for the same project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In reading the response from Mr. Rumley he seems perplexed that the City didn't want to fund the project but did in fact want to and voted to before even checking to see if it were legal to do so.. So you see Mr. Rumley, you have to check with the law before making a commitment to use taxpayer money for projects. Yea SPLOST is STILL taxpayer money! Even if the media and elected officials want to say it's the most fair..... TAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
