Well, ask and you shall receive. Looks as if the Independant done their best to cover the City Meeting. I am really concerned that the City will have to raise taxes but I do understand and think the County is just a little away from doing the same thing. There are only three options left on the table for the City and they will have to decide whick route they choose to take.
But on a side note, there are two resturants who have inquired? Brocks and Pizza Hut? I bet there will be at least one more....lol...lol...

Wonder why the Sentinel changed it's story from the reporter who done the reporting? Seems as if the report wasn't good enough for the owner of the paper...lol..lol.. But you can read both articles and make up your own mind... Wonder if the owner was even there?
The Trenton City Commission held their regular monthly meeting Monday night with a small crowd on hand – unlike the past several meetings.
The highlight of the meeting came under citizen participation when Danny Hall addressed the council on their recent Beer Ordinance. “At the last meeting you passed the ordinance and I respect that. I’m here asking you to make a motion to put the 300-foot from churches in the ordinance. That’s standard in Georgia cities, a little more in Tennessee cities. I don’t think that’s asking too much,” he said.
“All the surrounding city’s have that in their ordinance but for some reason it was left out here. Some cities require 500 foot. All I’m asking is you put it in the ordinance out of respect for the churches,” he added.
Commissioner Tommy Lawson stated he had not seen the ordinance and didn’t know if it was in or not. Commissioner Lawson voted against the passage of the ordinance.
Mayor Barton Harris said he had talked to some of the commissioners about no patio sales and they might do some fine-tuning of the ordinance. When asked after the meeting if they planned to fine tune the ordinance before any license was issued he said, “I would hope so.”
Commissioner Lawson stated he would be for such a motion but felt like it needed to come from one of the commissioners who voted in favor of the Ordinance.
After several minutes of discussion about the possibility of opening a business that would sell beer next to a church and repeated statements about “thinking that really wouldn’t happen” no motion was made.
Mayor Barton Harris reported that the City’s financials are about the same as the last few months. “We’re okay, watching our p’s and q’s as usual.” He also reported they are currently working on the budget but may find it difficult to cut the 10 percent they had hoped to.
“We have been notified our medical insurance is going up about 7.5 percent which is going to make it very difficult. We want to do all we can to take care of the city and its employees,’ he said.
Commissioner Sandra Gray reported that the police department answered 288 calls last month, worked 11 traffic accidents, took 23 incident reports, made three arrests and issued 44 citations. November revenue was $10,884; bringing the year’s total at $96,255.
Commissioner Tommy Lawson reported the fire department answered 11 fire calls and 53 medical calls last month while the sewer department was kept busy as well with 11 underground location calls and seven sewer calls. He also reported that the staff at the sewer plant had met all their training qualifications.
Commissioner Chuck Cannon reported the new civic center should be completed in the next week or so and that an open house would be announced at a later date. He commended Preston Daniel and the street department for all the work they had been doing there on the finishing touches.
Mary Petruska of the Trenton Arts Council reported that they had stopped the banner project for now and that work on a book was on hold due to health reasons.
Under new business Commissioner Lawson stated he would be bring an ordinance in January addressing the hours for commercial operations in residential zoned areas. "I have received several complaints about dumpsters being emptied during the early morning hours and that efforts to get the companies to change their schedules have not been successful."
The ordinance would define that commercial operations in areas zoned R-1, R-2, RA and BA shall be limited to the hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. These operations include but are not limited to construction and garbage/waste pickup. The restriction does not apply to retail sales.
This is just a draft and the city’s attorney will be asked to draw up the final ordinance.
The January City Commission meeting date was changed to the second Monday due to the holidays. That meeting will take place Jan. 10.

And the winner is Pizza Hut. I say let's have a big party. Funny thing is when I first moved up here I tried to order a pitcher of beer. It is on the menu. Didn't realize they didn't allow that around here.
The legal from the paper.
