Let the Fee Grabbin’ commence!!! Looking at the “Fluffier” article about the City of Trenton wanting to set up a legal “Speed Trap” on I-59 so that they can fill the city coffers with money once again because the money well seems to be dry once again. I don’t think we will see the head line in the media outlet “CITY BROKE…CASH COW ON I-59 TO BE EXPLOITED TO FULLEST!!!” Seems the Beer and wine thingy did not bring in the expected windfall of taxes it was thought to do. Now with the changes to the law look like they have stopped any hope of collecting taxes from that one because all restaurants in Trenton seem to fall in the 300’ limit. However it did manage to close one business and loose the taxes it paid. Kind of Strange “Maglev” Mullis did not step in and get Tax Concessions to “Save the Jobs” at this business…You know like he did at Shaw. Hell... instead of setting up a speed trap on I-59 they should set up on 136 and ticket all the good folks driving over the speed limit into and out of Trenton…Talk about a “Cash Cow” ..No wait we might ticket the wrong GOB and hell would be to pay… Guess we had better stick to ticketing out –of-Towner’s…They not from around here and can’t vote.

Couldn't have said it better myself. And just to think that two years ago, we seem not to be able to agree on anything....lol..lol...
This is NOT a public saftey issue folks. It's a pay to play issue.. Simple as that. Something "Tha Fluffer" knows but will never have the guts to say.....

Let's really look at this issue. The budget is really bringing the City down. It is to the point that all that is left to cut is the employees. We can't give back the building, firetrucks and other toys (like the dog) so they are stuck with the cards on the table. The only place left to cut being the employees, how can we keep them on payroll? Well I think that this radar thing is just that. A way to keep a City Officer on the payroll. But will they be able to collect enough in fines to pay for the officer? If you take the time to look at the fines collected in the past you will see that there isn't much of a chance to make it happen.
I understand that the City has it's problems and the County will very soon also. But the cutting will now have to come in the form of Layoffs, because just cutting a little here and adding a little there will not cover the overhead that both the City and County have built up... Just Sayin!

Let us not overlook the grabbin over at the library side also. They are wanting their own line item on the property tax bill. A move I think is political suicide. Even if they brought in less than want the county, city, and schools fund them now the average person will see this as a tax increase and moreso will blame the county commision. Whats next a fire fee on your water bill?

Here is what the library is up to in Walker. http://www.catwalkchatt.com/view/full_s ... ght_column At least now they have to justify the money they get. If you were to dedicate a portion of property taxes to give the library they would not have to come each year and ask for money. It opens the door for waste.
