As far as the skate board park -- there is a big difference in middle schoolers signing a petition and capable responsible adults standing up and saying "hey I am willing to do the work and maintain the structure". Look at the park behind Ingles -- there are several broken wood pieces on the 'pirate ship' that have been that way since September -- who is supposed to fix that?

You are Correct about the skateboard park. I can remember how hard it was getting new Christmas Lights put up in the City. You have to have someone who takes responsibility and accountability that puts a plan together, along with a budget and willing to do more than just collect signatures. You have to be able to work at getting things done like the Stage that was built in the park (we worked till after 11 each night to build it (even the Mayor). You have to have leadership that is willing to work with others and support other projects to be able to ask in return for their help. In other words it takes alot. Been there! Done that!

As far as the broken wood peices that would fall to the Parks and Rec employees of at least 2 and the help of trustees when needed. I will say that Ronnie does a pretty good job on the park but in the month of Dec. they usually take off because he works alot of hours during the summer with the pool, park and ballfeilds. The park is the best thing the City has to offer and was proud of the time that I spent there working.

Well honestly giving a signature was the most I could do at the time. I was yet sadly a kid in Middle School. Now that I maybe slowly grow a bit in age and hopefully can gain respect in the peers of other mature citizens in Trenton I hope to find a way to fix some things, or even try.

I'm that much of a religious person as I have stated on these forums enough before, but I've been to church events. It seems more of a fight on which event is better or not more than anything.

As of now I'm proud to be working with an excellent selection of teens at the library. We are currently planning a Game Day this month which will have not excellent numbers, but show representation of what I hope is a secure and friendly place in which teens can hold activities.

Also, off topic: We are holding computer classes at the library soon. If you guys know anyone that wants to learn anything like E-Mail, Internet, Microsoft Office or such we should be able to help. Feb. 2nd at the library from 6-8PM. Sign up sheet is at the library.

Billie no one here is saying anything bad about the idea of signing a petition, especially when your just a kid! We are just saying that without ADULTS who are willing to put there money where their mouths are you don't get anything. That is just the way of it. The way I see it too, is in Dade when it comes to 'fer the kids' it only applies to ball -- not even all sports are on par just look at the red headed step child wrestling!
You seem like a good kid with a valid interest in the community, just keep it up! Someday you could make a difference, keep asking questions and not excepting "just 'cuse" for an answer. Don't become cynical (don't say it Rex). Educate yourself on politics and KNOW who your politicians are they are your elected officials -- you have the power to hire and fire them, and that is important. If you want to see change in your community you have to HIRE the right people for the job.

BTW, what is 'Game Day'? If it is on Saturday I have a couple that my be interested.
On the 'puter class, have you contacted the 'locals' for PSAs? The posted the info on the Tea Party -- they should be willing to do same for the library.

Don't become cynical (don't say it Rex). WWWHHHHOOOO MMMMMEEEE?

But she is right Billie, you seem to have a pretty good head on your shoulders (even if you get off-track somethimes)...lol..lol.... The thing that will serve you best is knowing that you can always learn something from somebody as I do everday.

Just don't let the Phrase of "Together we can make a Differance" mean that you only say it and don't work at it. I have found that saying it, is very easy but actually working at it is alot harder that it looks. I have seen and heard it and maybe that why I am Cynical?

I only wish that I could have met you back during the days of actually working at it... Take it slow and easy and don't expect to much then you won't be as dissappointed as I have. I only hope that you don't choose to "Go Along" with the "Good Ole Boys" because it really isn't the right way of doing things. I know it is easy for some but I found it very hard not to hold others accountable as much as I held myself to it................ In the end you will be proud of what you have done in making a differance by at least holding yourself to a higher standard.

Game Day is on the 23 at the Public Library and will consist of a good few High School teens playing video games on the X-Box and Wii.

The Computer Classes are on the 2nd of Feb. and people should sign up at the front desk at the library before hand.
