On the coverage of last weeks Commission meeting. I dropped my subscription a few years back because of the way the articles were written about the meetings and not covering the people but the commissioners side of the story. I have to admit that when I read this weeks edition on the Water Company and the Hotel-motel tax I felt like I was at least caught up on the meeting. I used not to be able to go to these meeting and I started going then reading what was written and asked myself were they even there?
People all time say why don't more people come to the meeting... Well why should they? The wern't getting any coverage and NO HELP from the Commission and now that we have someone who will at least not be afraid to say when someone speaks out is pretty refreshing in my book. You must ask questions when you are the media and represent at least some of the people who show up at the meetings with them. Thanks again for doing just that and I hope that they keep up the good work...

I have found that "If" you ask questions of accountability the spokesman will "SPIN" themselves in the ground much like Doug and the water issue. I would love to see someone ask the Mayor other than they spend money in Trenton, why it was a good idea to give away a taxpayer "Bucket Truck". Not sure he understands that it wasn't his to give away. The citizens of Trenton deserve something more from their leadership other than giving away vehicles and buying new toys for them to play with... Come ON!

I think someone would first need to educate themselves on OCGA on disposal of surplus propertybefore talking to the city. And at least ask about giving across state lines. I don't know the answer I haven't had the time to look it up yet. Maybe a call to the Georgia Municipal Assoc. on it and Asking about if a vote is required before you can give it away or the legalities of trading in a car and not advertising to auction it to the highest bidder.

Good article. What was that percentage 21 out of how many not working? 91 That is like 23%. Imagine if 23% of your houses didn't have water. I hope the ISO people don't hear about this. Imagine how high the rates would go. Maybe the legislation that need to gets passed by the commission appointing the board needs to address the charter to include providing water for fire hydrants in the charter.

You're right David, I just hope everones sees how to do a story about a meeting. Seems the "OTHER NEWS" wants to talk all about Basketball and not cover any news anymore. Must be making more money from the advertising on Basketball. But he really never was good at asking any questions because it might upset the one he's asking the question to. Guess he's afraid of getting his water cut off or something. You would think he would be behind the "In the Ditches Gang" on the Fireplug issue.....lol...lol...lol...

I am still waiting on this issue to be brought up! Giving away taxpayer property is just plain wrong, and without even a VOTE?
