My feelings exactly. Thank You Ronnie & Mut for voting no. Keep up the No vote! http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_177619.asp (emphasis mine) Expert Says CityBoard of Education Property Tax Increase Will Hurt Economy, Cost Jobs
Quote:
During these tough economic times, the last thing ChattanoogansDadeCountians should have to face is a property tax increase,” said Justin Owen, director of policy & general counsel of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. He said, “A property tax hike will result in taking much-needed resources away from businesses, inevitably causing them to reduce wages, lay off workers, or even worse, close their doors entirely.” The Tennessee Center for Policy Research is an independent, non-profit and non-partisan research organization that studies the impact of taxes on Tennessee citizens and business across the state of Tennessee. Mr. Owen said studies conducted in other states "have also concluded that increased taxes on business property result in fewer businesses and fewer jobs." Brandon Lewis of http://www.StopTheTaxIncrease.com said, “The City CouncilBoard of Educationhas a pretty easy choice when it comes to closing the budgetary gap. Board members can either decide to continue to insulate the city governmentDade County School Board and workers from the effects of the recession, ignoring the inefficiencies and waste in many departments, or they
can raise taxes. Raising taxes will cost many private sector jobs and perhaps place some residents out on the streets.”
He said, "I want to encourage residents and business owners to contact their local councilBoardrepresentatives to arrange visits, attend the budgetary councilboardmeetings, and visit http://www.StopTheTaxIncrease.com & www.dadeinfo.com .
“We have been bearing the burden of increased cityschool board fees, increased valuations, increased stormwater fees, and some have even experienced double jeopardy in recent annexation efforts by the council(pssst don't give em any ideas here in Dade for new fee tax increases). If we don’t speak up now, we will not have anyone to blame but ourselves.”

David, David, David, you have already pee-ed the Judge Off and now you want to fight the "big gorilla" like the School System? You know it will end up "Fer the Kids"! They should be more worried about the Board Members that have to change their vote because right now it's 2-2. I think Mr. Swarder really took them to "School" on timing. He has left them in a real bind....lol...lol...lol...

What do you think the chances are of the board picking someone who will be a fiscal hawk and likely to vote NO on spending proposals?
