Congressman Graves Honored as “Freshman of the Year” for the 111th Congress July 22, 2010 5:57 PM
Washington – House Freshman Republicans, led by U.S. Rep. Steve Austria (R-OH), voted unanimously to honor U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA) as the “Freshman Member of the Year” for the 111th Congress. Rep. Steve Austria and Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL) presented Graves with a Certificate of Appreciation from Freshman Members for embodying the spirit of individual liberty, free market principles and representative self –government.
“I am deeply humbled and honored to accept this great award,” said Congressman Graves. “The members of my Republican Freshman Class exceeded my expectations when they welcomed me to the House and I am truly grateful for this honor.”
“Last year the American Legislative Exchange Council named you “Legislator of the Year” for your initiatives to spur job growth and help small businesses. Your short tenure here in Congress has provided many members of this chamber with a refreshing perspective on how to tackle the challenges that lay ahead,” said Freshman Republicans in a letter to Graves.
“He is a rising star here in Congress, “said U.S. Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL). “From day one, Representative Graves hit the ground running, proposing ideas and putting forward common sense solutions. He has an excellent working knowledge of the economic challenges that lay ahead, especially where small business is concerned.”

Glad for Tom but suspicious of anyone getting an award for Freshman of the year after less than 60 days in office. Looks like fodder for a runoff advertising campaign to me.
