I really find myself not wanting to see the train-wreck but being able not to turn away... So again I watched the show when they talked about HOW BAD it was for the Show Dogs. It was like having a NANNY look after your kids. What????? Yea they are owned by someone but taken care of by someone else who might not be from around here. They are miskept by being placed in a crate but they even admitted they had put one in a crate to fly out on a plane. As I watched these two women try to explain to anyone who would listen that they knew more about dogs than anyone else, I had to laugh and change the channel.

I also want to add that USUALLY the handler only has the dog while they are getting their 'championship' and doing the circuits getting their points and majors. LOTS of traveling EVERY weekend. Once the dog is 'finished' has it's CH then they usually go back to the owner and only go 'on the road' for certain shows IF big IF the dog is 'special' quality that is they usually WIN there breed and place in Group and are running for Best in Show. By and Far most CHs come home to be lazy companion dogs and produces a couple of potentially 'better than their parents' litters. Show dogs don't as a rule have many litters adding to the pet 'overpopulation' issue -- it is the backyard breeders with a registered dog and 2 or 3 bitches that produce 2 or 3 litters a year that produce 'registered' yet low quality 'purebred' dogs usually with all the worst scenarios of genetic disorders possible within that breed.

This sounds much more like the educated version than two women who know NOTHING about Show Dogs other than they might need to "rescue" them from time to time... (If you know what I mean)...lol..lol...lol...

I totally agree with sbcorgie. Show dogs have so much time and money spent on them, we could only hope to have that. And as far as breeding, huh, that is few and far between with only selected bitches able to breed to a stud dog with those credentials.
