Let's see... We were Over Budget, but since October when the Taxes come in, we are Now on Budget? We were gonna set the budget but since it's been a year since the last one, we forgot that we have to have one meeting to present it and another to adopt it... DDOOHHH We moved the Ole S.P.L.O.S.T funds to the General Fund (in most cases that is Illegal) and we have taken after much discussion (about borrowing it from another Dept. Budget) to take the Bridge to Nowhere funds and use them on the Building that was budgeted for one amount and use it to have overbudgeted that project for the Adoption Center. We cut a little from Arts, and Library but they are still on track to finish out this year on Budget??????

Now if this topic is confusing to you! Well it should be, because I be durned if I ain't just as confused as you!

Oh and just to let you folks know, I am not againist the City because they passed the Ordinance for Resturants like some folks who had to speak last night... Funny how people's agenda makes them speak out against other things when things don't go the way they wanted on other items....

But! Since the City is using the S.P.L.O.S.T. funds to keep from adding to the tax rate, I guess that makes it legal. Let's see they used the Reserve last year and this year will use the S.P.L.O.S.T. funds to keep afloat. I am betting that alot of households would like to be able to do that but they are cutting back. But that's why the goverment is having a hard time but they still don't want to cut.

Just to show you a example of what I am saying, take a look at this report. NEVER has anyone questioned the BUDGET for the City till now (other than me talking about spending money). Funny how people's agenda seems to get in the way when they don't get what they want....

CITY TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING THURSDAY 12-28-10

As the end of the year approaches, the City of Trenton is still without a budget for the year 2011. City Commissioners had voted to approve the budget at a Special Called meeting last Monday but after the meeting were reminded that state law requires them to hold a public hearing before a budget can be adopted. The City has set their public hearing for this Thursday, December 30 at 5PM at City Hall. They will then vote to adopt their budget at their January meeting on Monday, January 10th. That meeting will begin at 7:00PM. The public is encouraged to attend both meetings.

I find it funny that "Tha Fluffer" is so concerned with the Budget this year...lol..lol... After all, he's never been before....lol.lol. Does it show that bad????? Yea... It Does!

LIBRARY STILL NOT FUNDED IN CITY BUDGET 12-31-10
The library finds themselves still needing funding from the City of Trenton as the end of the year approaches. Lecia Eubanks, Director of the Cherokee Regional Library, addressed the City Commission at Thursday’s Public Hearing concerning the fact that the Dade County Public Library has been cut from the City’s 2011 budget completely saying that they’ve cut out one of the 5 essential services that are funded by the City and if they didn’t provide some funds for 2011, she would have to make some major financial decisions as early as next week. Eubanks also reminded them that the Library has yet to receive the $31,000 that the City budgeted for them in 2010. Commissioner Tommy Lawson said that he felt the City is obligated to provide the library the 2010 funds. The Commissioners agreed to pay the library some of the funds out of the General Fund before the end of the year and try to complete the payment out of the City’s Hotel/Motel tax.

Commissioners then heard from resident Danny Hall who raised questions about the City’s income side of the budget saying that the City had failed to bring in their anticipated revenues for 2010 but have raised the amount of expected revenues for 2011. He also added that the City’s digest had dropped about $4 million in value and since the City chose to keep their millage rate the same, this will bring in less tax revenues, not more.

At the end of the meeting, the Mayor said he remains optimistic in hoping that the City will bring in the budgeted amount of revenues and asked people to shop locally.

Taken from this weeks Sentinal................................................................

A lengthy argument ensued, with fingers stabbed at line items on both sides and local newsman Evan Stone chiming in at some length from the back of the room, adding numbers of his own. “You’re going to get less money because Shaw’s gone,” he said. He said that the city had not collected the revenue it projected in 2010 and was unlikely to do so in 2011.

Ms. Houts also disputed Stone’s numbers.

Questioned after the meeting about his level of participation in the discussion, Stone denied having a dog in the fight. “I was just basically commenting on all of the things that Danny was talking about,” he said.

It was Stone who reminded the city at its special called budget meeting Dec. 20 of its obligation to hold the public hearing.

Watching the replay of last night County Commission Meeting, I can tell this City Commission to be on the Lookout for the Famous "LIBRARY LADIES". They are coming with GUNS a-blazin with such ideas as the City residents paying for Garbage service to be able to fund the Library. It will be interesting enough....lol..lol...
