SAND MOUNTAIN MAN STABS DOGS 12/11/09
Tuesday afternoon Dade County Deputies were called out to investigate an animal cruelty case that involved the stabbing deaths of dogs. Deputies responded to a residence on Stanley Road on Sand Mountain and discovered one deceased dog that was lying just a few feet from the road. The dog had several wounds that appeared to be stab wounds.
A search warrant was executed on the residence and an additional dog was discovered in the bed of a truck. That dog was also deceased and had multiple stab wounds. On Wednesday afternoon, a warrant was issued and 59 year old Dade County resident, Hillard Allen Stevens was arrested on two counts of Cruelty to Animals. Stevens is still in the Dade County Jail. No bond has been set at this time
We used to be known here in Dade County to have nothing but Child Molestors and Meth Makers! But now we seem to have a real problem with animal cruelty. We are on top of anyone who mistreats an animal but as far as what happens when animals are stolen or even when teachers are asked to leave the school system we hear nothing. Now I have a probem with anyone who mistreats anything but come on folks, let's look after the kids and animals owners also. Let's at least try to look.... "Fair and Balanced"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol...lol..lol...

Guys.. I know we are kidding a lot here but this bring out an important problem and that we do not have here or anywhere else in the State of Georgia have in place a treatment program for Mental Illness...In the rush to put ot out of sight... we have put people on the streets instead of helping them...The Politicans did this to save taxdollars so they could bring Midnight Basketball to the inter-citys so they could get votes!!!!!

OT, you are correct. I have been sitting in on a meeting while I listened to a call made about getting someone help for Mental Illness and out of the Jail. It really takes an act of Congress to get these people the help they really need. The Jails just can't handle these cases but who will take them? It is from what very little I have seen is a MAJOR problem that this county has along with I'm sure that all other counties have also.

I certainly agree. Persons with mental illness need treatment not incarceration, even if they need to spend the rest of their life in such a facility. I wonder how many inmates in the prison system should be in hospitals? Just look at the poor guy who got tazed to death at Earlanger a couple of weeks ago.

MORE ANIMALS FOUND DEAD IN ANIMAL CRUELTY INVESTIGATION
Additional animal cruelty charges are possible for Hillard Allen Stevens of Sand Mountain who was arrested last week when 2 dogs were found on his property having been stabbed to death. As the Dade County Sheriff's Office continued their investigation this week, they found additional animals including cows, goats, chickens, and more dogs - some dead and some in critical condition.
WoW are we feeling better now knowing that a full blown investigation has found some dead cows lying in a feild. Wonder how they figured that one out...lol..lol... Now we have paid investigators looking for dead cows, goats, chickens and more dogs but yet we can't seem to find that vehicle that we have been looking for the past months that has been seen stealing dogs? They put out a Bolo for that vehicle and it's Driver months ago and still no sign of it? Oh wait, can it be that said vehicle and said driver was seen by the media at the last two animal cruelty sites with the Sheriff? Now that just can't be can it????????????????

Which is more wrong a sick person killing his animals or persons acting in the 'interest of the animals rights' putting him in jail when it is obvious that he needs psychological help?
